The Mills Park Centre is located in Beckenham and is part of a 24 hectare recreational space with high levels of sport and passive use. It has significant environmental areas where Woodlupine and Yule Brooks meet, as well as wetlands and native bush areas. The area is complemented by family picnic areas with barbeques, shade shelters and a state of the art community centre which has achieved a 6 star Green Star rating.
The Mills Park Centre is a large community centre located the northern part of the City of Gosnells. The main features of the Centre include a large 485sqm function hall, a 144sqm lesser hall and a 56sqm activity room. The Mills Park Centre provides both general space to run community-based activities and private functions.
The Mills Park project was a new build $47 million community complex (partly funded by the Government) for which Centigrade provided all the Mechanical services. The building consisted of flood light sports grounds, change rooms, function rooms and multiple bars/cafes, built on an old waist ground within the City of Gosnells. Centigrade played a very important part of the final design and layout of the plant/equipment and worked very closely with SGK Consultants in order to make everything fit within this state of the art building.
The biggest challenge we had to overcome was the setting out of the main roof plant room which had a huge amount of plant that consisted of 2 chillers, 2 boilers, 7 air handling units, dozens of fans (exhaust and supply air), chilled and heating water storage tanks and pumps. None the less, the project was completed on time and within budget and was opened by Colin Barnett in March 2017.
